2013 NBHA NEWS

2/10/2013
We had a great show yesterday. The weather was beautiful, good turnout, and the show ran smoothly. Members, you have stepped up to the plate to work and it shows in a smoothly run show. I believe that splitting the working of the barrel setters into 1/3's during the open, has made a big difference in willingness to work in those spots. On average, a barrel setter during the open is only having to work no more than an hour. I hope you are pleased with this new working format.
There is one position I want to add to working responsibilities. This will fall on the youth parents/members, as it deals with loading up at the end of the show and typically open members only have already left. I need help in this area. It will consist of the following:
Getting the barrels out of the arena and loaded into my trailer.
Taking down the clocks.
Pulling up the barrel stakes.
Loading the bins, files, folders, training barrels, etc. in my trailer.
Awards:
I mentioned 2x yesterday about awards but wanted to go over the 2012 awards again. I was hoping to be able to do the awards at the March 23 show. But they will not be ready then. A lot of the awards this year are custom made. One of the awards that Leslie received last year, the first time we used it the bottom busted out of it. I certainly hope that did not happen to anyone else. But, that is the problem with mass produced items. They're made for quantity not quality. Members, you have competed, worked and earned awards and I want you to have awards that will last. That's why I have opted for more custom made awards, which does take a little longer to produce. You will be happy with the outcome.
Since I will not be at the April 27th show in Collinsville (Tricia Vaughn will be standing in my place) that brings us to May 31 for awards presentation. That's the Friday night show at the Ag. So mark your calendars.!
Attached you will find the updated points listing as well as the results from yesterday's show.

We gained several new members at our show Saturday . . . WELCOME!! One of our new members is even from Eight Mile, AL. We are so glad each one of your chose MS07 as your home district. We also gained a few new members that designated 00, WELCOME to those members also and we hope to see you at upcoming MS07 runs also.
MS07 members, the new working rule is this: to be eligible for district awards you must have worked at 3 district shows throughout the competition year. Now, I'm adding a new twist . . . The Open division is always the longest division time-wise. Instead of splitting workers for first half and second half, we will divide the working sections into thirds. If there are 100 entries we will start off with the first set of workers, change to the second set at draw #35, and change to the last set at draw #65. Hopefully this will also help those that try to compete and work by having to work for less time during the show. Comments, thoughts..??? Please reply if have any.
Attached is the list of workers that I have from Saturday's show. Please look over it and if you worked and are not listed, I need to know ASAP. Or if you saw someone work who isn't listed, I also need to know that ASAP.
Thanks to all who worked Saturday at the show. The help at the sign-up desk was greatly appreciated. I always need multiple workers at the sign-up desk; please keep this in mind when I'm looking for workers for the February 9th show.
Since I have updated my group mailing list, I am attaching the results and points from Saturday to this e-mail also.
